Content Guidelines

Content guidelines tell your assistants how to create specific types of content. They’re included in the assistant’s context when generating deliverables, ensuring consistent quality and style across all output.

Creating Guidelines

From the project detail page, navigate to Guidelines and click Add Guideline.

Each guideline has:

  • Content Type — Which type of content this guideline applies to
  • Guidelines — The instructions for creating this content type

Content Types

You can create one guideline per content type per project. Available types include:

TypeDescription
GeneralApplies to all content regardless of type
Blog PostGuidelines for blog articles
ReportGuidelines for reports and analysis
SummaryGuidelines for summaries and briefs
ImageGuidelines for image generation prompts
ProofreadingGuidelines for proofreading and editing

Additional content types may be available depending on your installed plugins.

The General guideline is special — it applies to all content the assistant creates, regardless of the specific content type. Use it for universal rules like brand voice, formatting standards, or audience considerations.

Writing Effective Guidelines

Good guidelines are specific and actionable. Here are some examples:

Brand voice guideline (General):

Write in a friendly, professional tone. Use active voice. Avoid jargon unless the audience is technical. Keep sentences concise — aim for 15-20 words on average.

Blog post guideline:

Structure posts with a compelling introduction, 3-5 sections with H2 headings, and a clear conclusion with a call to action. Include relevant examples and data points. Target 800-1200 words.

Image guideline:

Use a clean, modern aesthetic with the brand colors (blue #2563EB, white, light gray). Prefer illustrations over photographs. Avoid text in images.

How Guidelines Are Used

When an assistant generates content, the relevant guidelines are automatically included in its context:

  1. The General guideline (if set) is always included
  2. The guideline matching the specific content type being generated is also included
  3. The assistant follows these guidelines when creating the deliverable

Guidelines are also passed to image generation tools, so your visual style preferences are respected when generating images.
